Abdel is recalled from the front line of the army and, upon returning home, finds his family devastated by the death of his younger brother. The boy appears to have died under unclear circumstances after an altercation with the police. Eager to avenge his deceased brother and with the elder brother Moktar involved in criminal activities and younger Karim implicated as leader in the revolt, Abdel finds himself having to calm the growing tensions, which he succeeds with a lot of effort. The situation, however, becomes increasingly serious, to the point of transforming theirs community, the peripheral neighborhood of Athena, in a real fortress under siege, as well as the stage for the tragedy of his family and many others.
