Wafaa Raouf El Beih (1977), is Full Professor of Modern and Contemporary Italian Literature, Director of the Umberto I Library and Archive in Cairo, former Director of the Department of Italian Studies at the Faculty of Letters of Helwan University in Cairo and Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stessa d'Italia (formerly Stella della Solidarietà Italiana), from 9/12/2020. She is Visiting Professor of Italian Literature and Comparative Literature at various Italian universities. Collaborator and reviewer of various magazines and periodicals in Italy and Egypt, such as: «Osservatorio permanente sugli studi pavesiani nel mondo», «Journal of Middle East Research», «Kepos» and «Luscinia - Collana di critica, italianistica e filologia». She has published various papers, contributions and essays on topics of Italian literature and she has edited several volumes including Dizionario di terminologia letteraria e critica, and I verbi italiani (Osiris, 2023 and 2021) La poesia italiana di James Sanua (Aracne, 2018), Il marito infedele. James Sanua e il teatro italiano in Egitto (Sestante, 2015). He has translated and collaborated in the translation of various volumes and literary works into Arabic including Cristo si è fermato a Eboli (Kalima, 2010), Il bell'Antonio (Sharqiat, 2011), La stanza sull'acqua (The National Translation Centre, 2020), Il sogno della macchina da cucire (Almutawassit, 2020).
