The suitors have dug their hands into the pockets of a devastated Greece. Odysseus is missing; and as for his son, the young Telemachus, the economic crisis afflicting Athens in the middle of winter confronts him with that age-old but timely question: should he stay or should he go? Should he wait for the return of the hero? Should he clean the dung from the Augean stables himself? Or should he emigrate, following in the footsteps of his ancestors? Anestis Azas and Prodromos Tsinikoris have given leading roles to a number of characters from different generations who have divided their lives between Germany and Greece and who struggle to answer the question: “Should I stay or should I go?” Their stories of life and personal accounts of migration and homecoming are interspersed with excerpts from Odyssey. Migrants of the past and Gastabeiter, today's crisis-shaken Athenians and specialists all speak on stage – together with Prodromos Tsinikoris, in the role of Telemachus – of the state Europe is in, and talk about their personal odysseys – Scylla and Charybdis, experiences of loss and deception, guilt and economic debt, unemployment and self-denial.In this way, Telemachus and his traveling companions examine the various stereotypes imposed both by ourselves and by others, while addressing the current crisis.
