Back Home is a series of photographs portraying families migrating from their country of origin.
Each photograph depicts a portrait of one family. The background of the photographs depicts
paintings by the artist that showcase the interiors and exteriors of houses in Albania, the country of
origin for the families featured in the portraits. The artist captured photographs of these houses and
then faithfully reproduced them through the medium of painting to provide a contextual backdrop
for the portraits. This work touches on some of the main themes of Paci's artistic research, such as
mobility, displacement, forced exodus, and integration. It combines past and present, portraying a
single photo-memory that captures both the home of origin and new perspectives of life in the new
country.
