In Il dispatrio Meneghello describes his own experience in England, where he migrates in
1947 after the defeat of the Partito d’Azione, and where he will live for the most part of his life, teaching at the University of Reading. Through an interplay which intertwines ironical fragments and portraits, the writer relates the different linguistic poles of his own transcultural identity (Venetian dialect, Italian, English).
