Published on the occasion of the exhibition "Jimmie Durham: Here at the Center", held in 2015 at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, the artist book brings together a series of photographs where Durham poses in front of places that show the word "Europe". Born in 1940 in Houston, he stayed several times in various European cities. The nomadic trajectories that underpin the course of his life constitute a fixed but constantly moving position, certainly privileged to observe political and national realities with an always eccentric point of view. The photographs and texts that accompany the volume are therefore functional in bringing out a series of questions: what is the space that Europe occupies today, such as the founding myths that represent it, but above all how can we reposition ourselves and others within inside this great narrative?
