In 2010, Rossella Biscotti was granted a 20-ton block of Carrara marble from the iconic quarry in
Carrara, which was once used by Michelangelo. In May 2021, the block of marble was extracted
and loaded onto a boat that sailed a symbolic route from Italy to Malta, Tunisia, and Libya. At the
end of this journey, the block of marble was released into the Mediterranean Sea. The GPS-based
route, created by the artist in collaboration with several experts, is designed to showcase points of
interest along the deadliest migration route in the Mediterranean Sea. These points of interest
include information on shipwrecks, wiring, military controls, and licenses for energy and oil
companies.
